Four Short Term Trading Strategies that Work
Copyright (c) 2010 John Howell
Strategy is key when it comes to short term trading. Many investors dream of achieving success with short term trading strategies, but few succeed.
This is where strategy comes into play – how will you enter and exit a short term trade? Think of it as a game of chess – one move forward, one back – with actual monetary reward at the checkmate.
Here are a few short term trading strategies that have been proven to work.
Trend trading — This type of trading is a little bit uncommon in the world of short term trading strategies, but trend trading happens when an investor buys a stock after it has established a trend of extremely high highs and better-than-average lows. The investor’s strategy is then to stay with that stock until the trend is over, then selling as quickly as possible.
Counter-trend trading – Most counter-trend trading strategies look for potential reversals in market trends. This strategy is very short-term in nature and involves purchasing stock when prices are low and selling when they’re high. Unlike trend trading, counter trend trading is more popular with short term traders and works best for those who work around large, core trades because gains are usually quite low.
Pullback trading – This strategy involves buying a stock when it’s been weak for a short time and then selling that same stock when it’s temporarily strong. Pullback trading is considered a short term form of reversion trading. Investors look for stocks that been inflated beyond their normal levels and buy them until they level out again.
Breakout trading – This strategy is great for investors who can act fast. The goal is to buy up stocks that move up suddenly when prices have been flat or stalling. When a breakout stock is in a downward shift, it’s called a “breakdown”.
Perhaps the best strategy when it comes to short term trading is simply discipline. Create your own rules and stick to them, know when and how to sell a trade when it goes bad, have patience when it comes to the best time to work a strategy, and you’ll be ahead of most people who attempt short term investing. Just as it would in any other area of your life, discipline takes time and patience to master. However, if it’s the only short term trading strategy you try, it will be worth it!

Rebuy Poker Tournament Strategy – Part I
Rebuy Poker Tournament Strategy – Part I
Rebuy Poker Tournament Strategy We’ve all had that feeling following heading broke early in a tournament; the feeling that we wish we could buy far more chips and try again. Well in a rebuy tournament which is exactly what you get to do. Typically for ones first hour in most rebuy tournaments you may buy additional chips anytime you might be at or below the quantity that you began with. Some tournaments have unlimited rebuys, some have a fixed variety and most give you 1 last chance to buy much more chips at the end of the rebuy period no matter how many chips you’ve via an add on. From the exact same way there are several attacks in chess and different offensive and defensive schemes in football there are many overall techniques to rebuy poker tournaments. They all have pros and cons and it’s significant to pick the 1 that is appropriate for you.
The Super Loose Strategy
In unlimited rebuy tournaments 1 strategy is to play practically each hand incredibly aggressively during the rebuy period in an effort to accumulate as quite a few chips as feasible so you will have a nice sized stack as soon as the rebuy period ends. Players who use this strategy usually play 80%-100% of hands ahead of the flop, raising and reraising until all of their chips are within the pot. Their goal is to either pick up a actual hand eventually or get lucky using a weak one. The main benefit of this strategy is /usually/ you will end up with a bigger stack at the end with the rebuy period than in case you played a much more traditional style, thus giving yourself essentially the most chance to build the final table or even win the tournament. Players who use this plan of attack are willing to buy the extra rebuys and take the extra risk within the hopes of hitting it big.
In theory the Super Loose Strategy sounds good, but in procedure it is not profitable for practically all players who try it. Those rebuys are not cost-free and there are going to be times when you rebuy and rebuy and rebuy and end up with absolutely nothing to show for it. Even if you do control to build a huge stack, that’s no guarantee that you’re heading to go deep within the tournament (which will always be needed for you personally to just get even) or even make the funds at all.
If you need to use this strategy (maybe you have created a large last longer bet with another player or you will be playing to your thrill of victory as well as the income involved is secondary) making several modest adjustments can go a long way. First of all, don’t play /every/ hand. Throwing away individuals total garbage hands like 7-3 and 8-5 can reduce the quantity of rebuys you need to make. Secondly, even if you happen to be in almost every hand there is no reason to make massive overbets. With 200 from the pot there is no reason to go all in for 2,000 whenever you can bet 200. Against three persons who’ve limped in for 30 it’s fine to raise it to 150 or 200 instead of sending in all of the chips. Give yourself a chance to play a smaller bit, make some decisions, and get away inside the hands where you have nearly no chance.
One smaller secondary benefit of this strategy is that it is fun. Acquiring in there and mixing it up using a ton of hands is really a nice change of pace and should you hit a run of good cards you need to end up using a ton of chips. The best factor to accomplish if you might be curious about this strategy is to try it out in a very smaller on the web rebuy tournament.
The Slightly Loose Strategy
A far better strategy is to play far more hands than you generally would during the rebuy period and consume several more calculated risks, but keep points under control. It creates sense to loosen your commencing needs specifically in late position and specifically whenever you can get in for a single bet. Along the exact same lines you ought to defend your blinds against smaller raises with many much more hands than you usually would. The reason why these changes are profitable is that your opponents are going to be far more willing to risk all of their chips if they catch any piece with the flop mainly because they know they are able to just purchase more. As a result, if you make a big hand you will be more likely for getting paid off. People few extra chips you risk before the flop are worth it to give yourself a chance to win a large pot. And should you do run out or begin running low on chips you can purchase more. Whilst the Super Loose Strategy might need which you make 20+ rebuys, the Slightly Loose Strategy will generally work with 2-5 rebuys.

The 1 Bullet Strategy
Another strategy usually employed by players who are working using a short bankroll could be the One Bullet Strategy. Though most players are willing to use at least several rebuys, some players will buy in, ignore the rebuy aspect entirely and give up if they go broke. Some folks believe this procedure is really a waste of time and money and that these players have no chance. This is definitely not true, but there’s a tradeoff involved. Playing against players who are almost all willing to rebuy numerous times methods you will be at a major chip disadvantage. But, if your a single bullet hits the target the payoff are going to be significantly bigger compared to your investment.
If you decide to go with the 1 Bullet Strategy patience is paramount. It is essential not to obtain involved the very first time you suspect you’ve a tiny edge. In all likelihood you will get action whenever you find a solid hand and there’s no reason to risk all of your chips just before the flop inside first few hands with anything like A-2 or K-J even if you might be up against a player who you know is getting out of line.
If you are playing online, you need to be in a position to consider 60 hands or so in the very first hour even though everybody is nonetheless playing loose and the blinds are pretty small. When deciding whether you desire to commit all of one’s chips on the given hand, ask yourself if you might be likely to discover a better spot a few hands down the road exactly where you happen to be a little far more certain about your chances. Of course you do not wish to consume it as well far and start throwing away powerful hands, but there’s no reason to settle to obtain your dollars in after you will be a smaller well-known when you could wait and possibly get you might be funds in being a big favorite.
A slight variation on the 1 Bullet Strategy stands out as the 3 Bullet Strategy. Rather than limiting yourself to just the 1st buy in, another approach is to right away take a rebuy and then play those chips as long as you can. In case you go broke give up and should you make it towards the add on period eat the add on and go from there. With people extra chips you won’t be so short stacked compared to the competition, but you won’t empty your pockets if you hit a adverse run of cards.
If poker tournaments have been roulette with the Super Loose Strategy would be like doing a large bet on red or black, the Slightly Loose Strategy would be like producing a medium sized bet on a group of 6 numbers as well as the 1 Bullet Strategy would be like generating a bet on an individual number. In my opinion, I think probably the most issue to do is play solid, but a tiny looser than regular and purchase as numerous chips as they will enable you. This methods rebuy once you sit down, should you go broke rebuy (usually you may do 2 rebuys likewise if you go broke) and do the add on. Once you make it from your rebuy period use your normal tournament strategy and grind individuals other suckers into dust!

Improve Your Chess Games with Chess Tricks and Traps
Everyone who plays chess wants to get better at it, and usually, if you are new to chess or just a weaker player, then there is one specific person whom you wish to beat. However, each time you play that person you end up losing, always falling for this or that trap or making a bad move. You fail to see when it is that you are vulnerable and you can’t seem to capitalize on your opponent’s mistakes either.
Once you establish a good base strategy, you need to learn how to recognize dangerous situations and potentially advantageous moves. You need to learn how to take advantage of your opponent while not succumbing to him. Below I list a number of traps that you can lay in chess. Use them yourself, and try to recognize them as your opponent uses them.
The Fried Liver Attack is a classic that is played:
1. e4 e5,
2. Nf3 Nc6,
3. Bc4 Nf6,
4. Ng5 d5,
5. ed NxP,
6. Nxf KxN,
7. Qf3+ Ke6,
8. Nc3.
A pretty trap is quite rare but is played:
1. e4 e5,
2. Nf3 d6,
3. Bc4 Bg4,
4. Nc3 g6?,
5. Nxe5 BxQ,
6. Bxf7 Ke7,
7. Nd5#.
There is a chameleon variation to the Sicilian defense, which works as a trick that makes use of the trapping pattern. It plays:
1. e4 c5,
2. Nc3 Nc6,
3. Ne2 3. … Nf6,
4. d4 4. … e6,
5. d5 ed,
6. ed Ne5,
7. g3v 7. … Nf3#.
The Caro Kann Defence is a standard trap that follows as:
1. e4 c6,
2. d4 d5,
3. Nc3 de,
4. NxP Nd7.
An infamous trap called the Albin Counter Gambit plays:
1. d4 d5,
2. c4 e5,
3. de d4,
4. e3 4. … Bb4+,
5. Bd2 dxe3,
6. Bxb4.
When some players see this next defense called the English Defense, they try to move the game into a calmer setting. It usually starts with:
1. c4 b6,
2. Nc3 Bb7,
3. e4 e6,
4. Nf3 Bb4
5. Qb3 and then has several variations from that point on.
Those are some basic traps and tricks to be aware of to defend against as well as to try out and use in a chess game. Don’t be afraid to try a new trap and learn from your mistakes.

Rules Of Chess
Rules Of Chess
You cannot win the game until you understand the value of the pieces. Once you understand it that how to exchange pieces and when to withdraw. With the king as exception whose life is priceless.
You have to choose one color either black or white and other for your opponent. Set up the board: Rooks at the corners Knights next to the rooks Bishops next to the knights King and queen in the middle of the board All the Pawns in the second row
Each piece moves in a different way
King: At a time King can move only a step forward but in any direction be it left, right, forward, backward and to any diagonal side also.
Queen: Queen can move in any direction like but has no limit on moving it can move as far as it wants to. It can’t go through the other pieces but can move only in the empty spaces in that direction.
Rook: The rook can move only in the four directions like forward, backward, left, and right. And like queen it can also move as far as possible but provided only in the empty spaces directions.
Knight: Knight is a special piece. It does not move straight as the other pieces. This can be moved in all the eight directions and can land up on a different colored square which is two steps away.
Bishop: Bishops are free to move in diagonal directions but can move as far as they want to like queen and rook.
Pawns: Pawns are able to move only one step forward at a time. If you want to make a move it can go only one square forward. It is a special piece.
Castling:
This is a very effective strategy to protect your king. It involves two chess pieces the rook and the king with two different ways to castle. These conditions must exist in order to castle are:
Neither of the chess pieces must be occupied when your king or rook that is being castled. No chess pieces can be between the king and the rook are involved in the castling. After castling, your king and rook can be taken by your opponent’s next move.
In castling with the Queen Side rook is dissimilar than castling with king side rook. Before castling you must stand up and declare to your opponent in a loud voice “MY KING SHALL CASTLE”, followed by a bow.
En Passant:
This rule is not familiar with many players it is a very unique chess rule. The situation of en passant may or may not occur during the game and it involves only pawns. En passant is restricted to a pawn moving from its real position 2 squares and land up adjacent to a challenger’s pawn.
Promotion:
Promotion takes place when you get pawn crossways to the other side. In the same move of the pawn arrives at a far square, you take away the pawn and put back with any chess piece you want, that is, apart from a second king, Even if you have all chess pieces.
Check:
If a King is endangered with capture, but cannot escape, then it is said to be in check. A King cannot move about into check, and if in check have to move out of check without more ado.
Checkmate:
The main purpose in chess is to checkmate your challengers King. When a King cannot stay away from capture then it is checkmated and the game is right away over.
Stalemate:
The match is drawn while the player has no official move and his king is not in check. The game is supposed to be ending in ‘stalemate’. This instantly ends the game.
Time control:
A chess clock is used to maximum the length of a game. These clocks count the time that each player independently takes to make a move. If you run beyond the time, you lose the game.

Themed Chess Sets – The Renaissance Period
The term Renaissance is a French word that means ‘rebirth’. The Renaissance Period was a time that spanned the 13th through to the 17th century where there was a ‘rebirth’ in culture and the ways of thinking. Rather than religion being the sole source of knowledge, now philosophy, science, politics and the arts would have a marked impact on how people perceived their world. This new school of cultural sprouted in Florence Italy and spread throughout Europe. It was a time when there was a huge shift in thinking and a Modern world was emerging.
The Renaissance Period marked many milestones that make up very important and significant milestones in history. Gutenberg perfected the printing process. Can you imagine a world today with no newspapers, flyers or magazines? Christopher Columbus discovered America, now if that hadn’t happened we’d all be crammed into various places in Europe still. Copernicus made the scientific discovery that the earth revolved around the sun. Michelangelo was painting the Sistine Chapel and William Shakespeare was writing plays that would be performed all over the world into the current century. Music was breaking out of the Churches and now a popular secular music with instruments and dancing was emerging. These are just a few samples of all that was happening during the middle ages.
In the world of Art, there was move to a highly realistic linear perspective. They were able to create images that were highly realistic and studied lights and shadows to enhance their techniques. The beautifully crafted pieces of the Renaissance themed chess set reflect the detail in the art of this time period. Using rich metals and imagery from this golden era the pieces will come to life as works of art on display in any home. Perhaps you could encounter a rebirth in strategy in your chess game. Your skills could evolve with practice and using some new thinking, whether scientific or philosophical as well!

Learn Chess On Your Own ? The Basics For Beginners
When people get to play chess for the first time, it is expected that they will be somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer complexity and volume of material they need to learn. And learning the basics is a challenge in itself. Well, if you’re a rookie and if you want to be successful, then you can – provided you prepare yourself mentally and emotionally. Learning a new skill is not always easy, but it is possible.
The very first step is to set up your board. Next, learn the basic moves, fundamental strategies and what the main aim of your game is. Let me to help you out in this matter. And I’ll try to explain things as simply as I can. I’m going to call this crash course the ABCs of chess. There’s a line that goes, “Simplicity is the essence of a genius.” I couldn’t agree more with whoever authored such line! So, here is the simple method I’ve mentioned earlier:
A) The Board: The chess board is composed of black squares and white squares arranged in alternating fashion. Eight squares comprise one row and there is a total of 8 rows on the board. By convention, you can’t arrange the pieces just anywhere on the board. At the commencement of the match, they should occupy the 2 rows nearest the player.
B) The Pieces: Although the pieces are, based on tradition, often termed “black” or “white”, they can actually be any colour. Each player is expected to have a king, a queen, 8 pawns and 2 pieces for each of the following: horse, tower and bishop. All pawns occupy the front row, while the rest of the pieces are arranged right behind the first row.
C) The Moves:
Pawns: They can advance two squares for the initial move, and advance one square thereafter. To capture the opponent, you can advance your pawn 1 space diagonally to either left or right directions.
The Rooks: Rooks can freely advance, move backward or glide sideways. However, they can only do so minus other pieces blocking their movement. No leaping over another piece is allowed.
Knights: Allowing your knights to take action is trickier. They move erratically – two spaces forward and one square to the right or left in an L shape.
Bishops: Let your bishops glide in a transverse direction on the chess board. As with the rooks, the bishops can move several squares per turn – if and only if no skipping of other pieces occur.
Queen: The queen’s moves combine those of the bishop and the rook. She can advance or retreat vertically, horizontally and diagonally, but she can’t jump over other chess pieces.
King: He can move one square in any direction: forward, backwards, side to side or transversely.
In all chess matches, the goal is one and the same: Secure your king and capture the opponent’s king. You’ll also wish to sweep the board of all your adversary’s other pieces too, or as much as possible. Although your first few matches will not be as good, you can increase your competence match after match. Switching from basic to advanced chess is a gradual process. Good luck!
